Nursing’s role in infection prevention and management

Today we are seeing more multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and viruses than ever before. As nurses, we are the last stop in preventing and managing infections, and we can improve quality care outcomes through assessment and interventions. This session discusses the latest information on community-acquired and healthcare-associated infections, MDROs, and viruses, and ways nurses and advanced practice nurses can screen for, prevent, and manage these conditions and improve patient outcomes and quality indicator scores.

After attending this session:

• 80% of participants will be better able to screen patients for community-acquired and healthcare-associated infections.
• Participants will be able to institute infection prevention techniques to decrease incidence, and manage patients with community-acquired and healthcare-associated infections.
