Student use of PassPoint and NCLEX-RN outcomes
Wolters Kluwer continues to work closely with nurse educators to determine how best to develop solutions that are the most effective teaching and learning resources. We turn to academic researchers and nursing faculty for scientific research and controlled case studies on these products and share their experiences with you through white papers, case studies, and testimonials.
This white paper investigates how Lippincott PassPoint, powered by PrepU adaptive learning, can help students develop a deeper understanding of critical NCLEX client needs and evidence-based thinking.
When you download this white paper, you’ll learn about:
- The nursing programs and students that make up the observation group and how they were chosen
- The benefits of formative assessment versus a traditional summative testing approach
- Best practices used in the development of the Lippincott PassPoint solution
- How students’ mastery levels and usage impacted NCLEX scores
NCLEX pass rate comparison
U.S. average pass rate – 84.5% • Lippincott results – 97.18%
The combined findings are based on the test plan, difficulty logic, and other particulars of the 2016 test plan. PassPoint can be implemented in various ways—from heavily instructor-directed requirements to largely independent student quizzing. Despite the different approaches to the product taken by schools in this study, all of them achieved strong outcomes after student engagement with the product. Some schools saw 100% pass rates. Other programs saw their pass rates improve by more than 15 percentage points.
