I began my legal career in 1983, the same year the Delaware Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act was enacted. The New Delaware Act significantly changed Delaware’s limited partnership laws and the practice of Delaware lawyers. It was an exciting time. As the law developed through amendments and case law decisions, I had a front row seat to observe, understand and influence these developments.

I chose a career in academia because it gives me the freedom to research and write about topics that interest me the most. I am interested in investment management regulation and the fiduciary obligation to promote a better understanding of the relationship between an adviser and a client and how the relationship differs from other professional relationships.

After a career as a practicing lawyer and investment banker, I chose to be a law professor because I wanted to teach and to engage in legal scholarship. The engagement with students, practitioners, and scholars is intellectually very fulfilling.
