Professor and postdoctoral degree holder; retired judge of the Supreme Court, professor at the College of Law of the Kozminski University in Warsaw (Poland); specialist in the fields of civil proceedings and substantive civil law. From October 1969 until May 2016 worked in the judiciary - at common courts at first (as a judge’s trainee, associate judge, judge of a poviat court, regional court and voivodeship court), and then as of July 1st, 1990, as a judge of the Civil Law Division of the Supreme Court, since 1998 also as the Chairman of the Division. As of October 1st, 2002, successfully combined the duties of a judge with academic and didactic work at university. Member of the editorial board of „Orzecznictwo Sądów Polskich” and the editorial committee of " Studia Prawnicze", a reviewer in several law journals.
In the years 2008–2010, member of the Civil Law Codification Commission of the Minister of Justice; as of January 1st, 2011, until the present, member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Author of several dozen scientific studies and research papers in the field of law and civil proceedings. Supervisor of eleven PhD students, reviewer in numerous PhD & postdoctoral programmes, as well as in those for the award of the academic title of professor.
