Doctor habilitated of juridical sciences. Since 11 February 2016 he has been a judge of the Supreme Court, in the Labour Law and Social Security Chamber.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdansk in 1994. In September 1994, he became a trainee judge at the Provincial Court in Olsztyn. After passing the judge’s exam in 1996, he worked as an assistant judge: the first year at the District Court in Kętrzyn, the second year at the District Court in Olsztyn. In 1998 he was nominated a judge of the District Court in Olsztyn. Since 1999 he has adjudicated exclusively in cases relating to employment and social security. In March 2005 he was promoted to the Regional Court in Olsztyn, while in May 2013 he was permanently seconded to the Court of Appeal in Bialystok. In September 2013 he was nominated an appellate judge. The crown of his career was the nomination as a Supreme Court judge.
Apart from his work on the bench, since 21 December 1998 has has been employed as a university lecturer. In April 2007 he defended his PhD thesis, and in November 2016 he was awarded the degree of doctor habilitated. He is an assistant professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, at the Department of Labour Law and Social Security. His academic output comprises around 90 publications, including four monographs, commentaries on the Labour Code, case notes, and articles. Since 2012, as a permanent lecturer of the National School of the Judiciary and Public Prosecution, he has delivered courses for trainees and judges.
He is a member of the Academic Council of Praca i Zabezpieczenie Społeczne periodical.
He is also a member of the editorial board of Orzecznictwo Sądów Polskich journal.
