Ms. Lewaszkiewicz-Petrykowska studied Law at the Jagiellonian University and graduated in 1949. As of 1949, associated with the University of Lodz. In the years 1952–1954 she completed solicitor’s training. Until 1965, when it was forbidden to combine work with scientific research, Ms. Lewaszkiewicz-Petrykowska had followed the profession of solicitor.
In 1959, obtained a PhD degree in legal sciences and in 1967 – a post-doctoral degree. In 1975, obtained the title of associate professor and in 1987 – a professor. In the years 1973-1978, filled the role of associate dean at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lodz. In the years 1981–1984 and 1993–1996, exercised the function of dean at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lodz. In the years 1983–1997, headed the Department of Civil Law of the University of Lodz.
As of 1976, for three decades acted as professor at the Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé (International Faculty of Comparative Law) in Strasbourg, where she educated lawyers from around the world.
In 2002, obtained a honorary degree of M. Schuman in Strasbourg.
A member of Société de Législation Comparée in Paris. As of 1992, member of Academie Internationale de Droit Comparé in Hague, in the years 1998–2002, performed the function of Secretary General of the Polish Section of Association Henri Capitans des Amis de la Culture Juridique Française.
Judge at the Constitutional Tribunal in the years 1997–2006.
Author of numerous scientific publications in the field of civil law and comparative law.
