She is is a professor at the University of Silesia, and a judge.
She is Vice-President of the Polish Scientific Society of Civil Procedure Law; Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Judicature of the University of Silesia in Katowice; and a member of: the International Association of Procedural Law (IAPL) in Luxembourg; the European Law Institute (ELI) in Vienna; the Commission for the Codification of the System of Judiciary and Public Prosecutor’s Office, as well as a lecturer on the postgraduate course “Mediation and Other Methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution”, run by the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University.
Her main areas of academic interest include civil procedure (litigation and non-contentious proceedings), European and international civil procedural law, comparative civil procedural law, the administration of justice systems and constitutional law.
Pursuant to the resolution of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice dated 29 September 2020, she was awarded the degree of habilitated Doctor of Laws in the discipline of law on the basis of a series of works entitled “Between the public and private interests – the limits of judicial power in civil proceedings”. She is the Doctor of Laws in the field of civil procedure, based on a resolution of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University Katowice dated 16 November 2010, entitled “Cases concerning the protection of individual consumer interests in civil proceedings”.
She has taken part in numerous research projects. In particular, she was the project leader for the NAWA international research grant project entitled “The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Justice System. Case study and suggested solutions” (2021–2023) and leader of the European Commission (EU) international educational grant project “International Judicial Training: Boosting Judicial” (2023–2025)
She is the author of numerous publications (including those in foreign languages) on civil procedure, including monographs, commentaries, articles and contributions to collective works.
