Overview of the bowtie methodology
Are you at risk because of hazardous or complex processes? Take control by applying the Bowtie Method! A ‘bowtie’ is a diagram that visualizes the risk you are dealing with in just one, easy to understand picture. It provides a simple, visual explanation of a risk that would be much more difficult to explain otherwise. Bowties enable visual risk management and provide a systematic structure to:
- Make risk understandable for anyone by visualizing a qualitative risk analysis.
- Focus on identifying, managing, and monitoring your barriers.
- Make risk-based decisions and use your resources more efficiently.

First things first, as the BowTieXP Suite software is based on the bowtie method, the first step into building bowtie diagrams is getting familiar with the bowtie method. If you’re not familiar with the method, allow us to explain the basics in the video or read about it in our knowledge base.
