These IVR calls are part of a broader UpToDate® product portfolio providing personalized, dynamic communication with patients over time. Freddie also provides feedback, subject-matter expertise, and advocacy for emerging voice-based products across the Wolters Kluwer portfolio. He has been developing a strategic vision for voice-based products and helping to create compelling demonstrations of voice technologies.
Freddie has been working in healthcare technology for over 20 years at companies like Merck, Sachs Group, Sg2, Solucient, Image Stream Medical/Olympus, and Prefix Health. He has worked on both the engineering and creative sides of various IVR and voice-assistant products and has patents for a virtual call center system and assistive throat microphone.
Freddie has not only engineered recordings for many IVRs and voice-assistants, but has also been the voice talent for several IVRs, audiobooks, and even a pinball machine. He is a Voting Member of the NARAS (The Grammy Awards), a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), and a member of the Engineering and Recording Society of Chicago (EARS).
In October 2018, Freddie gave a moving and informative TEDx talk to a sold-out crowd at TEDxVienna about improving the quality of life for people living with neurodegenerative diseases like PD, MS, MD, and ALS and his patent-pending assistive throat microphone system. In his over four years at Wolters Kluwer, he has given talks at events such as HIMSS, the Open Voice Network's Ethical Use Task Force, ViVE/HLTH, Project Voice, VOICE Summit, Harvard Medical School, the Minneapolis VA hospital, VOcation NYC, DigiConnect Future of Healthcare (UAE & Saudi Arabia), the Scottsdale Institute, Voice of Healthcare Summit, and Northwestern University's Health Communications graduate program. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering and a BMus in Vocal Performance from Northwestern University.
