As enterprises expand globally, corporate legal departments are being forced to evolve. According to IDC’s survey – U.S. Modernization of Corporate Legal – global growth is the number one driver for change. As teams are tasked with more responsibilities, corporate compliance becomes more complex and intensive – and 47% agree this is where most future resources are needed.
To keep pace, 84% of legal departments have made efforts to evolve in recent years. Transformative mechanisms include technology investments (50%), although 64% cite implementing technology as their biggest pain point. Outsourcing work to managed service providers is also a priority (21%) as departments look to measurably improve efficiency and reduce costs.
