Wolters Kluwer international author Frederik Boulogne wins the prestigious European Academic Tax Thesis Award

Boulogne's book presents a thorough analysis of the European Union Merger Directive.

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. announced that its author Frederik Boulogne has received the European Academic Tax Thesis Award (EATTA) for his book Shortcomings in the EU Merger Directive on Saturday, June 3 at the 2017 EATLP Congress in Lodz, Poland.

Mr. Boulogne's book, published as a part of Wolters Kluwer's series on International Taxation, provides a thorough analysis of key tax issues within the European Union Merger Directive and offers solutions for corporate tax advisors and government officials to consider.

"This book is the first of its kind not only to evaluate the Directive's efficacy in detail, but also to offer real solutions," said David Bartolone, Managing Director of Kluwer Law International. "This work is sure to play an important role in ongoing amendments and jurisprudence on the Merger Directive, and we congratulate Mr. Boulogne on this well deserved honor."

Mr. Boulogne is a tax advisor at PwC Netherlands and is currently seconded to PwC Singapore. He holds an LL.M. in Tax from the University of Groningen and a Ph.D. from the VU University Amsterdam.

The EATTA Award, considered one of Europe's most prestigious academic awards, is a joint venture of the European Association of Tax Law Professors and the European Commission (Directorate General Taxation and Customs Union). Prizes are annually awarded jointly by EATLP and the European Commission for (post) doctoral theses on international, comparative or EC tax law. Mr. Boulogne has been invited by the European Commission to Brussels, where he will present his winning thesis to interested European Union (EU) officials.
