About the speakers
Dr. Kirton has diverse nursing experience including critical care nursing, HIV-AIDS nursing, ambulatory care, and nursing leadership. He has held several nursing clinical and operational leadership roles with more than 15 years of experience as a chief nurse executive in academic medical and safety net facilities. In addition to his role as editor, he is an outstanding nurse educator with adjunct faculty appointments at New York University, Stockton University, and Temple University where he teaches healthcare finance. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurses (FAAN); a Fellow in the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (FADLN); and a Fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine.
Devin leads a four-time ANCC Magnet® designated nursing team at MaineHealth. Devin joined MMC in 2020, coming from the University of Michigan Medical Center (U of M) in Ann Arbor where he served as Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to U of M, he served as the Administrative Director of the Surgery and Transplant Patient Care Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee. He has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare in a variety of clinical, academic, and leadership roles. Devin is also licensed as a registered respiratory therapist and holds national certifications as an Adult Health Clinical Specialist, Nurse Executive–Advanced, and as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety.
Kirstiina is the Visiting Associate Professor at Tufts Medical School, and a member the Editorial Board of the Journal of Maine Medical Center. Dr. Hyrkäs has conducted and published numerous quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method studies across a wide spectrum of clinical, academic, and theoretical domains. She is also a reviewer for several leading nursing journals and professional nursing conferences

Rachel Dicker is a Product Management Associate Director at Wolters Kluwer Health Learning, Research & Practice. She is responsible for creating and implementing product strategies, innovation, and market outreach for new clinical research and information solutions. Her current focus is supporting academic and clinical leadership to teach, adopt, implement, and disseminate best practices to improve quality, safety, investments, and patient outcomes. She received the 2021 Health Learning, Research & Practice High Performance Recognition Award and the 2021 Wolters Kluwer Global Innovation Award.
