CCH OneClick will be launching new functionality in May that will allow practices with multiple Agent Services Accounts to work with all of them within a single CCH OneClick environment.
With Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT now live, practices are busy implementing MTD and many have already filed VAT returns as part of HMRC’s pilot. A critical element of successfully moving to MTD-compliant processes is ensuring that your Agent Services Account is correctly in place with HMRC. Many customers have had varying degrees of first-time success with this process so far.
One area of uncertainty over the last few months has been whether you can have more than one Agent Services Account.
HMRC has advised that a practice should only have one Agent Services Account, irrespective of the number of offices that may exist. The Agent Services Account setup process at HMRC provides practices with a facility to link clients from all current Government Gateway IDs associated to the practice to the one, new Agent Services Account.
However, if a practice consists of more than one legal entity, this may result in more than one Agent Services Account. In terms of how this works with our MTD solution, CCH OneClick, please note the following:
- Where individual, legal entities use separate CCH Central databases and CCH OneClick environments, the individual Agent Service Account credentials can be used as expected since there will be one Agent Service Account linked with a unique database.
- We are aware that a small number of customers have multiple Agent Services Accounts to support multiple entities (but use a single CCH Central Database). Currently CCH OneClick only supports one Agent Services Account. This will soon be enhanced with the new functionality that will allow these practices to work with all their Agent Services Accounts within a single CCH OneClick environment. This functionality will be available in May, ahead of the first MTD submissions deadline in June.
We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our early adopters that have already made VAT submissions using CCH OneClick as part of HMRC’s MTD pilot. Tony Hyde of Newby Castleman was keen to share his experience of using the VAT toolset within CCH OneClick.
“We have been working with CCH OneClick as part of the MTD pilot and have been hugely impressed with how easy it was to get up and running. I was particularly impressed with how straight forward the actual process of filing a VAT return was using CCH OneClick. Added to this, the dashboards within CCH OneClick allow me to monitor the progress of our VAT clients and having access to information such as the Digital VAT Account means CCH OneClick provides me with a complete Making Tax Digital for VAT toolset.”
