EHS and ESG professionals are taking early but deliberate steps toward responsible AI adoption, focusing on data quality, integration, and human oversight. At the Enablon Engage EMEA conference in Paris, Wolters Kluwer conducted a poll among approximately 60 environment, health and safety (EHS), operational risk management (ORM) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) professionals. The results show while most organizations are still in the early stages of their AI journeys, they are actively exploring high-impact use cases and laying the foundation for responsible, scalable AI deployment.
Most EHS and ESG teams in early stages of AI adoption
According to the poll, 41% of respondents said their organizations are just beginning to explore AI use cases, while 3% are scaling AI across multiple EHS/ESG processes, and 2% report that AI is already embedded and delivering measurable value. These findings suggest a significant opportunity for AI to drive transformation in safety, sustainability, and operational excellence, if organizations can overcome key barriers – starting with data quality.
