Wolters Kluwer advances legal AI strategy with successful multi country launch of Libra
Delivering legal AI at scale through cross border collaboration
Over recent months, Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory has launched Libra by Wolters Kluwer across Europe, and it is now live in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania with its integrated solution. The launches reflect close collaboration across product, technology, editorial, legal, sales, marketing, and communications teams, working together across borders to localize the solution and integrate trusted, market specific legal content.
Libra by Wolters Kluwer combines authoritative, author generated legal content with advanced AI capabilities in a secure, integrated workspace. Designed to fit naturally into daily legal workflows, the platform supports research, drafting, review, and analysis in one environment - helping professionals work more efficiently while maintaining confidence in the accuracy and reliability of their results.
Strong customer feedback
From early design through ongoing releases, customer feedback is a key driver of product development. Global law firm Taylor Wessing implemented Libra by Wolters Kluwer earlier this year across their German offices, and Oliver Betram, Managing Partner at Taylor Wessing in Germany, outlined the rationale behind this decision:
“The legal market is in motion – and AI is accelerating the transformation of law firms and legal departments at an unprecedented pace. Our clients expect the use of state-of-the-art technologies – and rightly so. Several years ago, we established our legal tech subsidiary, TW Legal Tech, and have since consistently focused on pioneering solutions for automated and digital legal advice," said Betram. "The use of AI is also playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day work. We are therefore pleased to integrate Libra as a legal AI workspace into our workflows, underscoring our commitment to making legal work even more efficient for our clients and to meeting our own standards for innovative, future oriented legal advice.”
A growing team backed by the full strength of Wolters Kluwer
The expansion of Libra by Wolters Kluwer has been accompanied by the continued growth of the Libra organization itself. Since joining Wolters Kluwer, the team has welcomed new colleagues across engineering, product development, customer success, and go to market roles. At the same time, the core team benefits from the full scale of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory, bringing together deep domain expertise, and the skills and knowledge of several thousand colleagues across various roles. As a result of tremendous teamwork, this multidisciplinary team is focused on accelerating innovation, strengthening content integration, and incorporating customer feedback into ongoing and future product development.
By aligning the dedicated Libra team with Wolters Kluwer’s broader capabilities, the combined organization is well positioned to continue expanding Libra’s functionality and impact over time, ensuring that legal AI delivers practical, real world value as legal and regulatory complexity continues to increase.
“Since joining Wolters Kluwer, we have seen how quickly a shared vision can turn into real world impact," said Viktor von Essen, CEO of Libra by Wolters Kluwer. "The successful launches across multiple countries show what is possible when speed and product focus come together with the scale, expertise, and trusted content of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory. At the same time, our team has grown rapidly, and the close cooperation across countries and functions has been exceptional. This combination allows us to deliver innovation faster, and, most importantly, deliver more value to legal professionals.”
More to come…
The successful multi country rollout of Libra underscores Wolters Kluwer’s strategy to responsibly scale domain specific AI grounded in trusted content, developed in close partnership with customers, and embedded directly into professional workflows - laying a strong foundation for continued innovation, and expanding value for legal professionals in the years ahead.
“Launching Libra across nine European markets is an impressive milestone – and it’s only the beginning," said Martin O'Malley, CEO of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory. "We’re scaling the strengths of our cross-functional teams and putting the full strengths of Wolters Kluwer behind them, so we can move even faster on what customers need next: new capabilities, deeper content integration, and an even broader ecosystem for legal work. Our focus is simple: deliver legal AI that professionals can rely on when it matters most.”
The upcoming spring release marks the next step in Libra’s development, with further enhancements to AI capabilities and deeper integration of Wolters Kluwer’s authoritative legal content across jurisdictions, while the team keeps driving the continued progress on content and technology partnerships.
These developments reflect a deliberate, iterative approach to product evolution, shaped by customer feedback and real-world workflows.
