Wolters Kluwer celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month: Steve Meirink

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the 2022 theme is Advancing Leaders Through Collaboration. Wolters Kluwer spotlighted the careers and stories of several of our Asian and Pacific Islander leaders whose contributions have inspired our growth story and culture of innovation.

Steve Meirink, CEO, Wolters Kluwer Financial & Corporate Compliance, is proud to be part of a team that works together to enable financial services professionals to make significant impacts within their communities. Specifically, the company’s expert solutions help financial institutions deliver the financial products and services their customers rely on to achieve their financial goals and protect their assets.

An award winning leader, one of Steve's most important responsibilities is helping team members see the impact their work has on customers, teams, and communities. His approach is to put into action the wisdom, experiences and perspectives that others have shared with him throughout his career. Steve has seen firsthand the positive impact teams can have as part of a purpose-driven culture.

Steve said, “I am so curious about the world we live in. Being part of a global team provides opportunities to learn from others and broaden my own perspective while making an impact within my own community.”

As a Korean adoptee growing up in Minnesota, it was important for Steve to see others that looked like him. He really benefited from attending Korean Culture Camp each summer which provided an opportunity to learn about his heritage and interact with hundreds of other children and adult volunteers.  Those experiences shaped Steve’s passion to ensure others feel a sense of belonging and fostered his curiosity to learn from others with different experiences than mine.

According to Steve, at Wolters Kluwer we can continue to increase opportunities to learn from one another and about one another.  As a Korean-American, Steve feels that his unique experiences that have shaped his perspective contributes to the company’s culture that reflects the professionals and communities we serve across the globe. Steve is proud of his heritage and his family loves to experience cultures and communities through food. Steve points out, “my children are more adventurous eaters than I am and thus have explored many types of Korean cuisine beyond kimchi (fermented cabbage salad), bulgogi (marinated and grilled meats), and mandu (traditional dumplings).”
