The objective of ONC certification criterion 170.315(f)(6) is electronic transmission of Antimicrobial Use and Resistance (AUR) data to NHSN. Sentri7 will evaluate this objective using the following metrics for Sentri7 AUR customers who report AUR data to NHSN:

 Metric  Description
AR numerator submissions to NHSN    Annual counts of successful and failed AR numerator submissions to NHSN
AR denominator submissions to NHSN     Annual counts of successful and failed AR denominator submissions to NHSN
AU summary submissions to NHSN    Annual counts of successful and failed AU summary submissions to NHSN

Each metric will provide annual counts that consider all eligible NHSN-defined locations and acute care settings as specified in the NHSN AUR protocol. Only the most recent attempt is considered for the report. Separate submissions may exist for each category (AU Summary, AR Denominator, AR Numerator) but only one submission (the latest attempt) for a given category and month will be eligible. Only uploads that are actually sent will be eligible - any errors that are caught before submission via Direct Send will make the submission ineligible for this reporting. We exclude failures due to customer configuration and only consider CDA file format and data-related errors.

It is expected that NHSN will accept all Sentri7 AUR submissions that comply with the AUR protocol in accordance with a facility’s monthly NHSN AUR reporting plan.

Successful submissions demonstrate that Sentri7 is compliant with AUR certification criteria and exchanging EHI in the care settings for which it is marketed for use. Failed submissions likewise demonstrate that Sentri7 AUR data is being exchanged with NHSN and vetted against NHSN business rules. The top reasons for submission failures included AU/AR reporting not being included in a facility’s monthly AUR reporting plan; attempts to report data for locations not mapped as eligible NHSN AUR location types; and attempts to submit the same data multiple times.
