From Idea to Application: Wolters Kluwer’s GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026 Demonstrates How Artificial Intelligence Is Advancing Public Administration

Wolters Kluwer invites participants to its third GovTech Prompt-a-thon, focusing on responsible AI, citizen-centric services, and intelligent, AI-enabled administrative processes.

How can artificial intelligence (AI) meaningfully relieve public administration, simplify processes, and at the same time be used transparently and responsibly? These questions will be at the heart of the GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026, hosted by Wolters Kluwer on June 18, 2026, at its German headquarters in Hürth. Now in its third edition, the event brings together engaged practitioners, young professionals, and experts from public administration, IT, law, and project management to develop practical AI solutions for real-world challenges facing the public sector during a full day of hands-on collaboration.

The GovTech Prompt-a-thon is deliberately designed as a collaborative innovation format. Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants use generative AI models to address concrete use cases ranging from intelligent process automation to citizen-friendly communication. The focus is not only on technological feasibility, but also on how AI can be integrated into administrative structures in a sustainable, transparent, and responsible way. Throughout the day, teams are supported by experienced mentors from practice, technology, and public administration.

Burkhardt Vitt, Associate Director Public Digital & Customer Solutions at Wolters Kluwer Germany, says: “Artificial intelligence is no longer a future topic for public administration. With the GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026, we want to demonstrate together how AI can create real value—practical, responsible, and with a clear focus on the people who work in and with public administration every day.”

Focus areas 2026

The GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026 addresses key current priorities in the modernization of public administration. Areas of focus include:

  • Smart process automation and intelligent workflows
  • Accessible, clear, and citizen-friendly communication
  • Transparent and responsible design of AI applications
  • Intelligent forms and smart service assistance

At the end of the event, teams will present their solutions to an expert jury, which will evaluate the concepts based on practical relevance, degree of innovation, and feasibility. This year’s jury consists

of Valentina Kerst (KI National Association), Thorsten Rode (City of Nettetal), Dirk Blauhut (City of Cologne), and Arne Schömann (IT.NRW). The top three teams will be awarded attractive prizes.

In addition, the first-place team will have the opportunity to further develop its idea in collaboration with the JUPITER AI Factory (JAIF) and to implement a prototype as part of the JAIF project at the Jülich Research Centre. As part of a European AI initiative, participants will have access to state-of-the-art high-performance computing infrastructure as well as support from experienced experts.
