Women's History Month spotlight: Karen Abramson

As CEO of the newly created Corporate Performance and ESG division, Karen Abramson leads a portfolio of global software businesses that focus on corporate performance management, environmental health and safety (EHS), and risk.

Previously at Wolters Kluwer, she served as CEO of the Tax & Accounting division, President & CEO of the Medical Research business unit, and General Manager of the former Corsearch business unit. In addition to her new role, Karen is the Executive Sponsor of our Women’s Global Inclusion Network. See Karen's bio, read her recent piece in the Times of India about tech trends shaping the industries we serve, and catch a few sources of inspiration she’s shared with us throughout her career.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Some of the best advice I have ever received was from our CEO, Nancy McKinstry. Early on in my career Nancy talked to me about how to integrate family and work life. She said that every day there will be competing priorities, and some days, one will take precedence over the other. The hope is the days the two aspects of your life conflict are few and far between! This advice has helped me and my husband raise my daughter who goes to college in the fall.

What quote inspires you?

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”- Margaret Mead

What inspires you about your new role?

I am a change agent. I love innovating and taking things to the next level, and that means driving transformation. The new CP & ESG Division enables us to better serve our customers and drive accelerated growth, both in the core areas of these businesses and in the emerging ESG space. I am honored to lead this new division as a growth driver for Wolters Kluwer and solving pain points for our customers.
