About the Authors

Dr. Soriano oversees the design and implementation of the ASCEND MD curriculum. A geriatrician by training, he has devoted his career to advancing clinical skills education, mentoring, and innovative curriculum reform. Dr. Soriano is nationally recognized for his leadership in medical education and has authored numerous publications on teaching, assessment, and curriculum design. He is the current lead author of Bates’ Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking, where he continues the book’s tradition of excellence while incorporating new approaches such as point-of-care ultrasound, inclusive communication, and competency-based teaching.

Dr. Storch serves as Co-Director of The Practice of Medicine, the clinical skills course in the pre-clerkship curriculum, and leads the school's evidence-based medicine curriculum. Dr. Storch is nationally recognized for her contributions to medical education, including her work on the newest edition of Bates' Visual Guide and its companion online platform, as well as the creation of an educational video series for the American College of Emergency Physicians.
