She is board-certified in infectious diseases, and her clinical interests include program development and leadership, clinical decision support, quality improvement, advanced clinical screening strategies, drug allergy, drug interactions, antimicrobial stewardship, and antimicrobial dose optimization.
Dr. Cheatham received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Butler University in 2009. Her post-doctoral training included completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Franciscan Health - Indianapolis in Indiana.
Following completion of residency, Dr. Cheatham spent 11 years leading antimicrobial stewardship programs and practicing infectious diseases in a variety of settings, including community hospitals and academic medical centers. During that time, she was also a dedicated preceptor to many pharmacy students and residents and held an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cheatham has also been active in multiple areas of research including utilization of clinical decision support tools to improve antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics with a primary focus on special patient populations (primarily obesity) and alternative antimicrobial dosing strategies. She has co-authored several peer-reviewed research publications and has presented over 25 abstracts at scientific meetings.
