Supporting your continuing medical education needs with convenient tracking of credits

UpToDate is accredited and recognized by colleges, associations, and authorities from around the world to offer CME/CE/CPD credits and is a globally accepted information resource and learning tool.1 When a clinical question is researched, UpToDate tracks both the search activity and the time spent reading topics.

Subscribers can select from AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ (3-step learning cycle) or other credit offerings to fulfill a variety of continuing education requirements for clinicians around the world. As long as your subscription remains active, credits may be redeemed for up to two years (unless otherwise noted) from the time the activity was completed. Credits that were redeemed for a credit certificate are saved for the length of your UpToDate subscription.

Tracking Credits

Subscribers with an individual subscription to UpToDate, or who access UpToDate from an EHR or other clinical system that has implemented the UpToDate integration API, can earn CME/CE/CPD credit – at no additional cost – each time a clinical question is researched.

Tracking Time

Many professionals need documentation of time spent reading clinical resources to demonstrate they are keeping their knowledge and skills current and learning about the latest, evidence-based developments. In many countries, UpToDate is accepted as a CME activity and meets the requirements for self-directed, personal learning. For example, many physicians in Australia and the UK track their time using UpToDate to fulfill self-directed learning/personal credit requirements. Please check with your local authority to see if they accept time spent using UpToDate.

Earning and redeeming credits through UpToDate is a simple process and does not require tests, fees, or the use of a third-party provider. You can redeem your credit right from your mobile devices, including through the UpToDate mobile app, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
