Curt Barnhill is a Professional Services Consultant with Wolters Kluwer TeamMate. As a seasoned Internal Audit & SOX Expert with over 25 years of experience, he began his career with KPMG’s Long Island assurance team and was then part of PWC’s NYC Internal Audit Services practice. These roles eventually led him to become the Chief Audit Executive for a mid-market manufacturing company, responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining the Internal Audit function and ensuring successful SOX compliance. He later became a Managing Director for a national professional services firm responsible for client services, personnel development, and new business development for the NYC and Long Island region.

Throughout his career, Curt has built numerous internal audit departments from the ground up and has led or assisted dozens of companies to a successful SOX 404 assessment. He joined Wolters Kluwer in 2017 and has used TeamMate software with multiple companies throughout his career.At Wolters Kluwer, Curt has become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Internal Audit process, Risk Assessments, and Control Assessments. He is also an SME with the TeamMate+ Controls platform and helps train TeamMate resources with the application and use of TeamMate+ Controls.

Curt holds a BBA degree in Accounting from Hofstra University and is a Certified Internal Control Auditor. He is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the IIA’s Chief Audit Executives program, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Financial Executives Networking Group. Curt is a veteran of the United States Air Force, separating as a Staff Sergeant.
