Wolters Kluwer partners with the Australian College of Nursing to launch Lippincott Procedures Australia

Wolters Kluwer Health today announced it has partnered with the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) to adapt Lippincott Procedures for use by Australia’s clinician community. The online evidence-based procedure guide will fully reflect Australia’s nursing protocols, regulations, terminology and drug names.

Under the partnership agreement, Wolters Kluwer and the ACN will modify Lippincott Procedures to align with clinical workflows and practice patterns among Australia’s 377,000 nurses and midwives practising in more than 1,330 private and public hospitals. Doing so will provide nurses with a single trusted resource to guide care management decisions with evidence-based best practices and protocols, eliminating the care variability that can happen when clinicians work with multiple reference tools that may not offer standardized guidance.

“ACN is excited about the potential impact our partnership with Wolters Kluwer will have on patient care quality and outcomes, particularly as nurses and health professionals can contribute to the standardisation and localisation of Lippincott Procedures Australia,” said ACN CEO Kylie Ward, FACN. “It will help provide a consistent approach to nursing practice and procedures as well as enable consistent reporting. It will service a wide variety of nursing specialities as well as hospital process or procedure, both clinical and administrative, in Australia.”

An online, evidence-based resource for step-by-step clinical procedures and guidance for nurses, Lippincott Procedures Australia will feature 450 procedures with text, images, videos and quizzes, and will address guidelines and protocols, local drug naming conventions, metric units and Australian spelling. The adaptation will provide detailed point-of-care procedures designed to support the productivity of Australian nurses to enhance patient outcomes, and comprehensive clinical skills checklists and tests to ensure competence and build confidence. Other key features include an easy browse-and-search function to quickly find required information and quick lists to provide a brief procedure overview for fast bedside reference.

“ACN and Wolters Kluwer share similar missions focused on providing healthcare professionals with the best available evidence to inform their practice, which made it an easy decision for us to join forces to localise Lippincott Procedures to the Australian healthcare market,” said Anne Dabrow Woods, DNP, RN, CRNP, ANP-BC, AGACNP-BC, FAAN, Chief Nurse of Wolters Kluwer Health Learning, Research and Practice. “The end result will be a trusted solution that enables the provision of high-quality care and improved patient outcomes by providing nurses and other healthcare professionals with evidence-based clinical decision support that is tailored to their unique needs.”
