Matthew O’Callaghan provides workplace relations advice to public and private sector organisations throughout Australia.

Matthew was a Senior Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission and the former Australian Industrial Relations Commission from 2001 to his retirement in 2017.

Matthew has held senior roles in the South Australian Public Sector. He was formerly the Chief Executive of the South Australian Department of Industrial Affairs.

Before entering the public service, Matthew was the Chief Executive of the South Australian Employer’s Federation, which has subsequently become Business SA. He has had particularly extensive involvement in major civil and mechanical construction projects throughout Australia.

Matthew is the author of, Workplace relations issues during the COVID-19 outbreak, which is a freely available resource on our CCH iKnowConnect Employment Law, Work Health and Safety, and Compliance and Business Law Practice Areas.

Matthew is also the author of the How to guide for employee bargaining representatives on the CCH iKnowConnect Employment Law – Practice Area. The guide is a tool available to help employees understand and represent their interests in the enterprise bargaining process.
