Getting started with Lippincott DocuCare is as easy as 1-2-3

Lippincott DocuCare integrates over 200 patient scenarios with web-based academic EHR simulation software, allowing students to learn how to use an EHR in a safe, true-to-life setting, while enabling instructors to measure their progress. This digital solution is used by more than 17,000 nurse educators and over 60,000 students who consistently report how it enhances learning and makes simulation feel authentic, all in an easy-to-use program.

DocuCare's non-linear solution works well in the classroom, simulation lab, and clinical practice.

1. Create a class

Customize the class name, section, time, term, location, and class instructions. Once the class is active, students can enroll.

Did you know?

  • Students self-enroll using an auto-generated class code so you don’t need to upload student data.
  • You can create multiple classes, so if you’d like to keep sections separate, you can easily create a class for each student group.
  • You can add co-instructors to your class to share your case library.

2. Choose a case

Choose a case from the Case Library to assign to your students or create your own patient record. Every case in the Case Library is completely customizable.

  • Lippincott DocuCare includes 200+ pre-populated patient records with a variety of demographics and diagnoses.
  • You can add images to your patient records from a library of 700+ images or by uploading your own.
  • SmartSense links to clinical references are included in pre-populated patient records as well as the ability to create these links in your custom cases.

3. Create an assignment

Assign the case to your students. Customize the assignment name, recipients, due date, learning objectives and instructions.

  • You can evaluate every screen of the student documentation, note whether documentation is satisfactory or needs improvement, and send students feedback within the Assignment Center.
  • First Day of Class assignments, scavenger hunts, and Learning Activities for each of the 200+ patient records are in the Instructor Resources.
  • You can copy assignments for easy re-creation each semester.
