Lau Chew King, Chloe is a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting Department at Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University. She has been with NBS for 20 years, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in financial and managerial accounting. Before joining academia, she accumulated many years of commercial experience, which continues to inform her teaching and case-writing. In addition to her teaching role, she serves as the Faculty Advisor of the Nanyang Audit & Assurance Team (NAAT) and represents NBS in liaising with CPA Australia on social events and accreditation matters. She also contributes to the profession as an examiner and examination reviewer for the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
Chloe holds a master’s in business (Accounting) from Monash University, Australia, and is a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) of CPA Australia.
Her research interests focus on financial accounting issues, including accounting treatments, disclosures, and reporting, as well as the intersection between accounting and artificial intelligence. She is also deeply committed to accounting education, with a particular interest in enhancing student engagement and teaching effectiveness.
Chloe has published extensively across practitioner and academic platforms, including the ISCA Journal, The Asia Business Case Centre, Wolters Kluwer’s IKnowConnect, and others. Her case writing is actively used in teaching to support applied learning and critical thinking. Her teaching case, “Happy Ice: Eyes on Cash,” published by the Asian Business Case Centre, examines cash flow strategies in a fast-growing beverage company, while her recent teaching case, “Behind the Green Curtain: Evaluating the Sustainability Claims of SK E&S,” has been selected by The Asia Business Case Centre for presentation at the 2025 International Case-based Education and Research Symposium.
She has received numerous accolades for teaching excellence. Chloe was nominated for both the Nanyang Business School (NBS) Teaching Excellence Award and the NBS Accountancy and Business Teacher of the Year Award in 2017 and won the NBS Teaching Excellence Award that year. She received further nominations for the NBS Teaching Excellence Award in 2021 and 2025, as well as for the NBS Accountancy and Business Teacher of the Year Award in 2025. In recognition of her sustained contributions, she was honoured as the NBS Accountancy and Business Teacher of the Year 2025.
