Wolters Kluwer launches pilot to advance Open Access medical research in India

Lippincott Open Access India APC Advantage creates responsible publishing pathway

Wolters Kluwer Health today announced a significant milestone in its Open Access strategy for medical research in India, with the introduction of the Lippincott Open Access India APC Advantage Pilot. This commitment establishes Wolters Kluwer’s India-focused Open Access initiative through the globally recognized Lippincott portfolio, which will help elevate the role of Indian medical research on the world stage.

“At Wolters Kluwer, our vision for Open Access in India goes beyond scale; it is firmly anchored in quality, trust, and long-term impact. Through the Lippincott Open Access India APC Advantage Pilot, our intent is to create a responsible and credible publishing pathway that empowers Indian clinicians, academicians, and early-career medical researchers to publish work of international standards with confidence,” said Ruchi Tushir, Wolters Kluwer Vice President and General Manager, India.

She adds, “This initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening India’s research ecosystem in alignment with national priorities, while ensuring that openness in science is always matched with rigorous peer review, strong editorial governance, and the highest ethical standards. By enabling global dissemination of high-quality Indian research, we aim to contribute meaningfully to evidence-based healthcare, academic excellence, and India’s growing leadership in global research.”

Expanding the reach of medical research from India through Open Access

Anchored in a carefully curated portfolio of prominent Open Access and hybrid journals, the program brings together titles recognized for strong editorial leadership, established Impact Factors, and global readership across medicine, clinical specialties, biomedical science, and allied health disciplines. The initiative moves the conversation beyond volume-driven Open Access models toward quality, relevance, and credibility, enabling authors to publish in journals that are aspirational and internationally trusted.

By combining rigorous peer review, robust editorial governance, and globally recognized publishing standards with enhanced accessibility, the program strengthens clinical impact, research integrity, and international visibility. Institutions working with Wolters Kluwer’s Open Access will get access to a trusted global dissemination platform for high-quality, practice-relevant medical and medicine-focused research emerging from India.

Aligning India’s national research priorities with a curated portfolio of journals

The Lippincott Open Access India APC Advantage Pilot will help enable clinicians, academicians, and early-career researchers to publish globally benchmarked medical research that informs practice, education, and health policy. This closely aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, supporting:

  • Excellence in medical and scientific research
  • Global competitiveness of Indian clinical scholarship
  • International visibility of medicine-led research outputs

Through rigorous peer review, adherence to international editorial and ethical standards, and a focus on clinical relevance and methodological excellence, the program provides an essential platform for first and early publications, accelerating both academic credibility and global visibility. Institutions, medical colleges, and teaching hospitals benefit by guiding their faculty and researchers toward compliant, impactful publishing pathways that meet research, promotion, and funding requirements.
