Maria Montenegro is the CEO of Wolters Kluwer’s Corporate Performance & ESG (CP & ESG) division, which comprises four award-winning global businesses: Corporate Performance Management (CCH® Tagetik), EHS & ESG (Enablon), Audit & Assurance (TeamMate), and Corporate Tax (CCH® SureTax and CCH® Axcess). These businesses deliver cloud-based solutions that empower finance, sustainability, audit, risk, EHS, and corporate tax professionals to achieve sustainable, data-driven growth. Under Maria’s leadership, the CP & ESG division employs approximately 2,500 people in 31 countries and serves customers in 155 countries, including 88% of Fortune 500 companies

She spearheaded the creation of the CP & ESG division in 2023 and drove pricing and commercial transformation initiatives. Her leadership emphasizes continuous transformation, value creation, and leveraging AI-enabled solutions to meet evolving market needs.

Career highlights

Maria was appointed CEO of Wolters Kluwer CP & ESG in January 2026 after serving as Wolters Kluwer Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, where she launched strategic initiatives and drove acquisitions globally. Her career spans nearly a decade at McKinsey & Company, where she advised on portfolio strategy, M&A, and digital transformation. Additionally, she held roles in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and participated in entrepreneurial ventures with Rocket Internet. 

Maria holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BSc in Management from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics. She is an Associate with the European Round Table for Industry.
