Wolters Kluwer celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month: Rudy Avila

From September 15 to October 15, Americans observe Hispanic Heritage Month. In celebration, Wolters Kluwer has spotlighted the careers and stories of several of our Hispanic leaders whose heritage has influenced their contributions and furthered our culture of innovation. 

Rudy Avila — Director, Field Sales with Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting — is a passionate sales leader who is inspired by the people he works with every day. He prioritizes serving his team and the company, and he appreciates that Wolters Kluwer gives him valuable freedom and autonomy to lead each team and each individual as needed — to best support them in their growth and success. 

Inspired by his father, who left Mexico in search of a better life for his family, Rudy is a first-generation citizen of the United States. Following his father’s advice, Rudy is a people-first leader who gives his all in everything he does and encourages others to do the same. He believes that learning is an important pillar of successful living, and to encourage his team,

Rudy says, “Know that you will make mistakes, and it’s OK — but learn and grow … and come back better.” Experience has shown him that you create a winning team by winning with people, “So, surround yourself with the best.”
With his team and in his personal life, supporting people is Rudy’s priority #1. To continue to better support our Hispanic colleagues across the globe, Rudy believes an essential focus for success is to, “Keep up our quest to have diversity as a key driver in all we do.” 

Rudy enjoys celebrating his heritage by spending quality time with extended family, and he loves having a piñata at his kids’ birthday parties. He describes his mother’s cooking as, “heaven on earth — especially her homemade salsa and tamales!”
