Launched in 1985, as a sister journal to Journal of Applied Microbiology, Letters in Applied Microbiology (LAM) is a flagship title of Applied Microbiology International.

Letters in Applied Microbiology aims to be the journal to support and develop the next generation of applied microbiologists. With a focus on early career scientists, it provides rapid publication of short well-designed studies containing robust datasets and insightful analysis. With a focus on the quality of science, we do not exclude papers based on subjective views of their potential impact. Replication studies, along with those of niche interest or showing negative results, are all welcome.
