Reduce Elective Procedure Cancellations

Researchers at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth found that first-time colonoscopy patients often arrive anxious and unsure about their procedure and potential outcomes.

In order to alleviate concerns and enhance patient education on what to expect before, during, and after a colonoscopy, Dartmouth challenged Emmi to help reduce patient anxiety and improve education about colonoscopy preparation, procedures, and recovery.

The Mercy Northwest Sleep Center faced the challenge of educating and preparing patients for sleep studies with limited staff resources.

With just two staff members, patient consultations prior to sleep studies were often under time-constraints, which made it difficult to ensure all information was fully understood. With Emmi programs providing patients access the same pre-study information at a time and place convenient to them, the center saw staggering improvements in time and costs saved and in lower no-show rates.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham used Emmi as a way to help educate its patient population about upper GI endoscopy and/or colonoscopy procedures.

Patients that engaged with Emmi multimedia programs were more likely to understand the procedures, their risks and benefits, and even what the experience might feel like. This resulted in a 75% reduction in cancellations.
