Ovid Technologies to Provide STZ Teaching Hospitals Online Access to Leading Clinical Information Resources
Agreement is the first of its kind for STZ and provides participating hospitals with customized packages of 25 peer-reviewed clinical journals from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins
Amsterdam, Netherlands (June 6, 2006) – Ovid Technologies, a Wolters Kluwer business and global leader in electronic medical, scientific, and academic information research solutions, is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement, effective March 1, with STZ, a Dutch association of 19 tertiary teaching hospitals, to provide its hospitals with customized packages of 25 online journals in clinical medicine from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, one of the world’s leading medical publishers. To date, 10 of the 19 STZ hospitals have committed to the agreement.
“It’s exciting to see that more and more hospitals, especially prestigious ones that make up STZ, are recognizing the value of electronic content resources. Flexibility, currency of information, and speed of access are critical for maintaining state-of-the-art medical education,” said Marc Keylard, Regional Sales Director for Ovid in Northern Europe and the Middle East and Africa. “We are very pleased that STZ has chosen Ovid as the first partner to provide electronic content to physicians, nurses, and students at its hospitals.”
Under the agreement, each of the participating STZ hospitals can pick and choose 25 clinically-focused journals from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), a leading international medical publisher and a sister company of Ovid’s within Wolters Kluwer’s Medical Research Division. Each of the 19 hospitals focuses on different clinical subject areas, such as emergency medicine, oncology, or cardiovascular surgery, so this flexibility was an important factor in finalizing the agreement. Some of the more well-known and widely referenced journals from LWW are Spine and Circulation.
“This agreement is an important step in our initiative to acquire more current electronic content for our hospitals,” said Norbert Groenewegen, Managing Director of STZ. “It wasn’t difficult for all of the hospitals to agree on Ovid to provide us with leading clinical information. Its content offerings are vast and varied. And its technology is second to none, allowing for quick, easy access.”
